Ich bin Sophie und ich möchte dich heute auf eine Reise mitnehmen – eine Reise nach Indien, wo ich im Juli 2023 meine 200 Stunden Yogalehrer Ausbildung (200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training) abgeschlossen habe. Wenn du darüber nachdenkst, eine Yogalehrer Ausbildung zu machen, und Indien in Betracht ziehst, dann könnte dieser Erfahrungsbericht genau das Richtige für dich sein. Ich werde dir von meinen Erlebnissen erzählen und dir einen Einblick in das Leben eines Yoga-Schülers in Indien geben. Jetzt, nach ca. einem Jahr, fühle ich mich bereit diese besondere Erfahrung mit dir zu teilen. 1. Wie kommt man darauf, ein Yoga Teacher Training in Indien zu machen? Vielleicht fragst du dich, wie ich überhaupt auf die Idee gekommen bin, eine Yogalehrer Ausbildung in Indien zu machen. Für mich war es eine Kombination aus meiner Liebe zum Yoga und meiner Neugier auf die Ursprünge dieser alten Praxis. Indien ist das Geburtsland des Yoga und ich wollte die Philosophie und Praxis an ihrem Ursprung erleben.  Meine erste Yogalehrerin in Köln hat mich inspiriert und mir gezeigt, wie tiefgehend und transformativ eine Yogalehrer Ausbildung sein kann. 2. Wann hast du dich für das Yoga Teacher Training in Indien bereit gefühlt? Es gab keinen genauen Moment, in dem ich wusste, dass ich bereit für eine Yogalehrer Ausbildung war. Es war eher eine langsame Entwicklung. Ich praktiziere schon seit einigen Jahren Yoga und bemerkte irgendwann, dass es nicht nur meine körperliche Fitness verbessert, sondern auch mein geistiges Wohlbefinden. Irgendwann merkte ich, dass ich tiefer in die Praxis eintauchen und mehr über die Philosophie und Geschichte des Yoga lernen wollte.  Der Gedanke, mein Wissen und meine Leidenschaft mit anderen zu teilen, wurde immer stärker. Das war der Punkt, an dem ich wusste, dass ich bereit für ein Yoga Teacher Training in Indien war. Ich habe es einfach gespürt. 3. Was ist ein Yoga Teacher Training (Yogalehrer Ausbildung) genau? Ein Yoga Teacher Training, kurz YTT, ist eine intensive Yoga Ausbildung, die dich darauf vorbereitet, Yoga professionell zu unterrichten. Es geht weit über das hinaus, was du in einer regulären Yogastunde in einem Studio lernst.  Du tauchst tief in die Asanas (Körperhaltungen) und deren Vorteile, Pranayama (Atemübungen), Meditation, Anatomie, Philosophie und die Geschichte des Yoga ein. Während der Yoga Ausbildung lernst du auch, wie man Unterrichtsstunden strukturiert und anleitet. Eine 200 Stunden Yogalehrer Ausbildung (200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training) ist oft der erste Schritt und dient als Grundlage für fortgeschrittene Trainings wie z.B. eine 300 Stunden Yogalehrer Ausbildung.  Eine 300 Stunden Yogalehrer Ausbildung kann erst nach erfolgreichem Abschluss einer 200 Stunden Yogalehrer Ausbildung begonnen werden. Viele Yogalehrer Ausbildungen sind mit Yoga Alliance zertifiziert; damit kannst du dann auch offiziell Yoga in Deutschland (und weltweit) unterrichten. Aber ich muss ehrlich sagen, dass das nicht unbedingt die Hauptintention sein muss. Viele machen ein Yoga Teacher Training auch einfach nur für sich selbst.  In meiner Yogalehrer Ausbildung gab es 15 Teilnehmer/Innen, von denen nur ca. 8 Yoga unterrichten wollten. Die anderen haben eher für die eigene Praxis und Weiterentwicklung teilgenommen. 4. Wie kann man sich den Tagesablauf von einem Yoga Teacher Training (Yogalehrer Ausbildung) vorstellen? Der Tagesablauf während meiner Yogalehrer Ausbildung (Yoga Teacher Training) war sehr strukturiert und intensiv. Ein typischer Tag sah etwa so aus: 6:00 Uhr Aufstehen und Kräutertee 6:30 Uhr Shatkarma (Yogische Reinigung z.B. Nasendusche) 7:00 Uhr Pranayama (Atemübungen) 8:00 Uhr Asana Praxis mit Anpassung und therapeutischem Schwerpunkt 9:45 Uhr Brunch 11:00 Uhr Anatomie mit Dr. Abhinav 12:15 Uhr Philosophie mit Dr. Kumar 13:30 Uhr Pause mit frischen Früchten und Tee 14:45 Uhr Ayurveda 16:00 Uhr Asana Praxis (Hatha) 18:00 Uhr Emotional Blockage Treatment und Meditation 19:00 Uhr Abendessen Jeder Tag war vollgepackt mit vielen Modulen, aber jede einzelne davon war bereichernd und lehrreich. Wöchentlich gab es dann auch neue Module. Ich muss sagen, dass der Ablauf anstrengend war. Dadurch konnte ich jedoch richtig gut an meiner Selbstdisziplin arbeiten und bin dadurch auch jetzt ein Jahr später noch viel disziplinierter, was meine eigene Weiterentwicklung und Tagesstruktur angeht. 5. Wie hast du deine Yogalehrer Ausbildung (Yoga Teacher Training) gefunden? Meine Suche nach der richtigen Yogalehrer Ausbildung begann, als ich einen Artikel in der Hatha World über Yoga Teacher Training Kurse las. Der Artikel beschrieb die verschiedenen Möglichkeiten, die man in Indien hat, und hob besonders die Authentizität und Tiefe der Programme hervor. Ich recherchierte weiter und fand eine Schule, die mich durch ihre umfassenden Lehrpläne und positiven Bewertungen überzeugte. Es war wichtig für mich, eine Schule zu finden, die international anerkannt ist und erfahrene Lehrer hat.  Auch der Punkt deutsche Ansprechpartner, hat mir dann etwas mehr Sicherheit und Vertrautheit gegeben. Nach vielen Stunden der Recherche entschied ich mich schließlich für Gyan Yog Breath in Rishikesh, der sogenannten “Yoga-Hauptstadt” der Welt. Meine Entscheidung habe ich keinen Moment bereut; ich bin glücklich damals auf mein Bauchgefühl vertraut zu haben. Die Schule ist sogar bis heute noch bei Fragen rund ums Unterrichten oder die Asanas für mich da. 6. Was war das prägendste, was du beim Yoga Teacher Training in Indien gelernt hast? Es ist schwer, eine einzige prägende Erfahrung herauszugreifen, da es so viele gab. Aber wenn ich eine wählen müsste, dann wäre es die Erkenntnis, wie sehr Yoga über die körperliche Praxis hinausgeht. Die tiefere Verbindung zu meinem eigenen Geist und Körper, das Verständnis der Yogaphilosophie und die Meditationspraxis haben mein Leben nachhaltig verändert. Besonders beeindruckend war für mich die spirituelle Dimension des Yoga, die in Indien einen viel höheren Stellenwert hat als in den meisten westlichen Ländern. Ich durfte mich während der Yoga Ausbildung persönlich weiterentwickeln und lernen wie ich in mehr Einklang mit meiner Natur und meinem Zyklus leben kann. Das praktische und theoretische Wissen der Kurse konnte ich auf richtig „echt“ mit nach Hause nehmen und in meinen Unterricht in Deutschland integrieren. Sure! My journey started in 2015 or 2016. I once came home from partying and had had too many drinks. It was around 3 or 4 am in the morning and I randomly opened YouTube and it randomly suggested a video of Kino MacGregor demonstrating third series of Ashtanga to me. I clicked, watched, and fell in love with the movement. I started to practice the exact same night after I had watched the video. The impact of yoga in my life has been huge ever since. I don ́t even know where to start. It really has changed everything. I think the easiest way to describe it is that I hadn’t known who I really was before yoga and with yoga the journey to knowing myself began and is still going on today. What inspired you to become a (yoga) teacher and guide others? The impact Yoga had on me was so huge that at some point I did not even ask myself anymore what I want to do on a professional level. For me it was clear that I want to do Yoga and only Yoga, all day, every day. Also, I think being a teacher is a little bit in my nature. I’ve always loved to discover things that work best in a pragmatical sense and to share them with others. No matter if it is about general goals, like for example becoming stronger, more flexible or just getting in shape or about more specific goals like achieving a certain position or movement, I just love to help people moving towards and finally achieving their goals. But most importantly, I want to show people that practicing yoga can actually be very enjoyable. I say that because sometimes people think that it must be very hard. This might be true in the very beginning, but as soon as you start to reconnect with your body and once you manage to choose the right intensity for you, moving the body and perceiving all the sensations while being in a certain position becomes the best thing on this planet. Enjoying the stretch, my friends. That ́s the way. How do you feel about offering a 200 Hour YTT in Rishikesh this year and guiding others to learn more in-depth from you? I am very thankful for this opportunity and so excited about it! I think a training that offers so much space for asanas allows us to really dive deep into all the details and intricate layers of the practice. Also, for me personally it is really a blessing because practicing together with others and ideally in person is the most beautiful thing for me. Rishikesh holds a special place in the hearts of many yogis. Can you tell us about your connection to Rishikesh and what motivated you to return there for this training? It is indeed a very special place. For me personally it was the place where my journey truly started. I did my first Yoga Teacher Training at Gyan Yog Breath in Rishikesh. It was after Rishikesh that I started to teach, and I have been teaching ever since. For that I am super thankful, and I often look nostalgically back to my Rishikesh experience. That I have the chance now to come back to this very special place as a teacher and to be part of the journey of others, whether it is just starting or it already has started, means a lot. Also, I would like to invite everyone who has the chance to experience the magical energy of Rishikesh for themselves. Such a vibe! As someone who has trained in Rishikesh before, how do you plan to incorporate the unique energy and spiritual essence of this sacred place into the training experience? I think Rishikesh makes this easy for us. It is very hard if not impossible to not get caught up in the magical flow and energy of Rishikesh. Still, sometimes it becomes even more enjoyable if we truly forget about everything else and simply perceive by immersing ourselves in the flow. So, we will try to do that from time to time. Sometimes before and sometimes after our practice. What’s the main style(s) you are focusing on during the 200 Hour YTT? It will be Hatha for sure. First of all, I think it is a great way to gently and patiently open the body up and secondly it really invites you to look within. What specific teaching methodologies or techniques do you plan to emphasize during the training to ensure participants receive a well-rounded education in yoga? On the one hand we will have a follow-along-style class because I think that it is useful to also see certain positions and movements, in particular in the
